5 Ways To Eat More Greens

Everyone wants to look like Popeye right?
A little bit of spinach (out of a can? if I recall?) and he turned into a muscley hunk and saved the day.
I’ve been eating spinach on a consistent basis for the past few years and I must say that doesn’t happen all of the time but I do feel pretty good!
As part of my coaching role with clients I give feedback on their food diaries (for the well behaved ones who remember to fill them in).
I would say my most popular bit of feedback that I use the most, week in, week out is …..
‘EAT MORE GREENS’
Why?
Well they are packed with a whole lot of nutrition that your body will thank you for big time.
They are also extremely low in calories and very filling which means you can eat more without risking gaining weight – Jackpot.
And if you put a bit of effort into buying good quality and cooking them well then they’re delicious.
Asparagus! Mmmmmmmmm 🙂
I do know though that there are some fussy people out there who will struggle to chow down on some raw kale so here’s a quick 5 tips to get more green veg into your diet.
1. Smoothies – Add kale, spinach, collards into your smoothie with a bit of fruit. Packs a health punch and you won’t really taste it due to the fruit.
2. Eggs – Again add kale or spinach into your scrambled eggs, nice and easy and a good start to the day.
3. Sauces – When making your own sauces it’s easy to add veg into it, extra sneaky way of getting the kidsto eat more veg too.
4. Stir/Blend Into Soups – Self explanatory
5. Be Creative – Asparagus cooked in the oven with a little oil, garlic and topped with parmesan. Kale crisps cooked in the oven. There’s loads you can do.
There genuinely is no excuse to not be including vegetables in your diet.
That advice is hopefully helpful and also free. For the really good stuff that demands a fee (but maybe not as hefty as you think).
