As you probably know I like to dabble with a bit of long distance running.
I’ve found with my training and due to my competitive nature with myself that I always have and think always will need a sport/competition to really focus on my training.
It’s the same with my clients, those training with a much more specific goal and challenge train better and see more success.
I and many of my clients have all gone through phases of just going through the motions. It’s better than a lot of people who don’t even do that! But I and I’m sure many of you aim higher and want more.
So this weekend is the big one in my running calendar, the Great North Run, up in Newcastle.
It’s a half marathon and as far as I know it’s the biggest one in the world with over 50,000 competitors!
I’m really looking forward to it, I’ve done some quite big races but nothing like this!
I signed up in January so have been working towards it since then, unfortunately the training hasn’t been perfect, a few injuries and holidays have got in the way but I’m looking forward to it anyway!
I’ve got the morning in work and then am starting my journey up later.
If you feel like you’re going through the motions a bit then try challenging yourself to get you going again, there’s so many different things out there:
– Charity walks
– Runs (park run, race for life)
– Bike rides
– Swims
The opportunities are endless.
If you need a bit of help getting started/inspired then maybe I can help, filling out this form is step number 1: https://bit.ly/2Jl4Kvb
Right off to work, I’ll let you know how I get on next week!
