The Scary Side Of Ageing

I’ve spent the last two days on a course held locally.
It’s been a real eye opener, I’m adding another string to my bow as a PSI (Postural Stability Instructor). This work allows me to work with older adults, specifically frailer adults with a risk of falling.
The last two days has really hit home on how we really do need to take care of ourselves.
Ageing is inevitable, there’s no getting away from it.
But what I do know is that I know a few 50 year olds who look and feel 70, I also know a few 70 year olds who feel 40 and look 50/60!
Every thing we do now will impact on us later, if we abuse our bodies in our younger days it’s going to come back and bite us in the ass!
If we look after our bodies now (it’s never too late to start) we shall reap the rewards with a healthy retirement.
Please don’t think if you’ve let things slip that there’s no going back, a bit of walking and a few healthy meals may be all you need to kickstart some good habits.
I know I don’t want my world to get so small that I spend the end of my days confined to 4 walls and an arm chair.
50% of women over 60 will suffer from osteoporosis (brittle bones), which is a massive risk factor and leads to so many fractures and breaks which ruin lives.
Good thing is it’s never ever too late to benefit from exercise.
Just a short and powerful message today as I must confess I’m all learned out and shattered. I’m writing this now at 8:15pm on Tuesday and I’m going to get a bite to eat and an early night.
Catch you Friday,
Jamie ‘Fighting Old Age’ Stedman
